The creation of the PMO as a centralized unit formalizes project practices increasing the level of maturity. The expected level in the maturity model is to develop a continuously improvement in project management among the portfolio in all the stages of the project life cycle.
This expectation could be achievable due to from the creation of the PMO the objective is to standardize, measure, control and communicate the PM practices. The other factor that enhances this level of maturity expected is that the head and the board of the organization have pointed out the benefits of use project management.
